2014 People’s Choice winners announced

Based on total votes received in the final round of voting, the winners of the 2014 Best of the Best, People’s Choice Awards have been announced. Posted is a condensed list of categories and 1st-place winners, and an expanded list showing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. All of these Lakeside merchants and service providers are to be congratulated for reaching the finalist stage.

This was the second such contest to be hosted by Imagen but the first online; an original printed version was conducted in 1998.  To view the 1998 winners, click here. More about the origins of the awards contest appears below.

Several categories were won by a single vote, and a few surprises surfaced. For example, Bruno’s, winner of Best Steak and Best Hamburger 16 years ago, won the same two categories in 2014. Min Wah, winner for Best Oriental Food in 1998, was also a return winner in 2014. Sixteen years later, Corona once again swept the Best Beer category, and Mazamitla won once again for the Best Nearby Jaunt.  Additionally there were a few ties, most notably in the Pet Supplies Store category, where a 3-way tie occurred.

 Winning businesses receive an award certificate suitable for framing and displaying in the place of business. In addition, award-winners will be authorized to use the Best of the Best, People’s Choice Award emblem in their print or web publicity. Winners should send an email address where the digital emblem should be sent. Certificates are in the process of being printed and will be delivered to winners.
